Escrow & holds
Every parent payment is held in escrow until the lesson is completed and the standard 24-hour review window has passed. This protects parents from poor service and tutors from chargeback fraud.
Parent refunds
- Eligible reasons: tutor no-show, more than 15 minutes late, technical failure on tutor's side, or material misrepresentation of qualifications.
- Window: request within 24 hours of the lesson via the booking page.
- Method: refunds return to your original payment method within 3–5 business days, or to wallet credit instantly.
- Disputed cases: reviewed by Trust & Safety within 48 hours.
Tutor payouts
- Earnings move from Pending to Available 24 hours after a lesson is marked complete.
- Payouts can be requested any time the available balance is above the minimum threshold (₦5,000 / $20).
- Bank transfers in NGN typically arrive same day; international USD payouts arrive within 2–4 business days.
- EduTrust covers standard processing fees; cross-border conversion fees are passed through at cost.
Reversals & chargebacks
If a parent files a chargeback after payout, the disputed amount may be debited from the tutor's wallet pending investigation. Confirmed fraud is borne by EduTrust, not the tutor.
Taxes
Tutors are independent contractors responsible for their own tax filings. EduTrust provides downloadable earnings statements from the tutor dashboard.
