1. Who we are
EduTrust Connect ("EduTrust", "we", "us") operates a global tutoring marketplace connecting diaspora and African families with verified tutors. We are the data controller for personal information processed through the platform.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, country, timezone, role (parent/tutor), and authentication credentials.
- Learner profiles: child first name, age band, school year, subjects and learning goals — provided by the parent.
- Tutor data: qualifications, ID verification, assessment results, payout details, availability, and lesson history.
- Lesson data: bookings, attendance, homework, AI-generated lesson reports, messages, and reviews.
- Payment data: processed by our PCI-compliant providers (Paystack, card networks); we never store full card numbers.
- Device & usage data: IP, browser, pages viewed, and analytics events used to improve the product.
3. How we use it
- To match families with the right tutor and run lessons end-to-end.
- To verify tutor identity and run safeguarding checks.
- To process payments, payouts, refunds and tax reporting.
- To send essential service notifications (booking confirmations, reminders, payout updates).
- To detect fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
- To improve the product, with aggregated and de-identified analytics.
4. Children's privacy
Lessons are booked by a parent or guardian for a learner. We do not allow children under 13 to create their own accounts. Parents control all learner data and can request deletion at any time.
5. Sharing
We share data only with: the tutor or parent in your booking; payment processors; identity verification partners; cloud infrastructure providers under strict data-processing agreements; and law enforcement where legally required. We never sell your data.
6. International transfers
EduTrust serves families across Nigeria, the UK, US, Canada, the EU, the UAE and beyond. Data is transferred under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent, and object to processing. Email privacy@edutrustconnect.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access control, and continuous monitoring. No system is perfectly secure — we'll notify affected users of any material breach without undue delay.
9. Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and for up to 6 years afterwards to meet tax, dispute and safeguarding obligations.
10. Changes
We'll notify you in-app and by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect.
